Enrolled Agents

An Enrolled Agent is a tax professional who is federally licensed to represent taxpayers before the IRS. In other words, the enrolled agent is the specialist who is approved by the IRS to handle the tax case on your behalf at the administrative level of examination, collection, or appeals.

The system is set up this way in order to improve efficiency. Enrolled agents are qualified due to training and experience with the IRS rules; many have successfully completed and passed the IRS Special Enrollment Exam (SEE). An enrolled agent will have a preparer TIN in the IRS electronic system.
